When Rio Rosales Elementary School opened in its temporary location in 2000, no one could have predicted the honors this school would receive. In 2006, Rio Rosales was named a California Distinguished School, and just one year later, the school received a Title One Academic Achievement Award and was nominated as a Blue Ribbon School. Now the school has a permanent home, opening its new doors in August 2007. In addition to offering regular education and kindergarten classrooms, Rio Rosales also offers after-school activities through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
Principal's Message
Welcome to Rio Rosales, recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2006.
We believe that it is our job as educators to support children in becoming lifelong learners with passion and a natural curiosity about life. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for students to develop their natural abilities and to feel free to take intellectual risks. At Rio Rosales, high academic standards are combined with an indoctrination in democratic thinking, focusing on students’ rights and responsibilities. We aim to promote high self-esteem, autonomy and social competence.
Students at Rio Rosales will be supported by highly proficient and diverse teachers and staff who are committed to each and every child. We are a community of professionals who believe that each child can succeed. We are dedicated to constantly improving our practice through regular collaboration and examination of data.
We believe that a quality education is achieved through a partnership between the school, families and community members. Parents should feel welcome on campus. There are numerous ways for adults to be involved in their child’s education including PTA, School Site Council, ELAC, volunteering in classrooms, or attending school events like our monthly Lunch on the Lawn.
I am proud to be a Dragon and look forward to working together to ensure the success of all of our students.
